«Expocentre»

Expocentre is a world-known Russian exhibition company that celebrated its 50th Anniversary in 2009. For all these years, it has retained its status as a leading organizer of largest international exhibitions in Russia, the CIS and Eastern Europe, and of Russia’s national expositions at EXPO exhibitions.
Expocentre was the first Russian company to join UFI, the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry in 1975. In 2005 we played host to the 72nd Annual Congress of UFI, the main international association of exhibition organizers.
Expocentre is a founding member of RUEF, the Russian Union of Exhibitions and Fairs (since 1991), and a member of the Guild of Exhibition and Fair Organizations of the Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Expocentre carries out organizational and methodical activities to encourage the development of exhibition activity in regional Russia.
Expocentre General Director Vladislav L. Malkevich is a UFI Board member and RUEF Vice-President.
Since 1978 Expocentre has been a member of InterEXPO – the Association of Organizers of Exhibitions Abroad and of National Participations in International Trade Fairs and Exhibitions.
Due to the development of convention activity Expocentre joined AIPC – the International Association of Congress Centres in 2005, and in 2006 became a member of ICCA – the International Congress and Convention Association.


EXHIBITION AND CONVENTION FACILITIES
Today Expocentre Fairgrounds comprises nine fully equipped exhibition pavilions with the most modern infrastructure and facilities, multifunctional halls for conventions, press conferences, meetings, seminars and symposia.
The total exhibition space at Expocentre Fairgrounds in 150,000 sqm comprising 90,000 sqm of indoor space and 60,000 sqm of outdoor space.

Annually, Expocentre Fairgrounds hosts over 100 international exhibitions attended by over two million professional visitors, and accommodates over 600 conventions, symposia and conferences.


PUBLIC RECOGNITION
For its successful performance Expocentre has received a lot of awards that serve as recognition for the company’s achievements in the creation of the country’s positive image, a revival of the best traditions of the national entrepreneurship, and the creation of conditions for a constructive dialogue between the state and business.
Over the last four years Expocentre has been awarded honorary certificates and has become a laureate of various awards that include Golden Mercury National Prize (2005), Superbrand International Award (2006), Leader of Economic Development of Russia International Prize (2006), Golden Certificate of Quality (2006), Leader of Economic Development of Russia International Prize in the Best Tax Payer of Russia Nomination (2006) and in the Contribution to Doubling of GDP Nomination (2007), National Economy Elite International Award (2008). The European Quality International Award (2008) and the Socrates International Award in the Economic and Business Nomination (2008) were presented in the Office of the Lord Mayor of Oxford and Windsor Castle.


DEVELOPMENT PROSPECTS
Expocentre Fairgrounds is steadily developing to extend its potential. Within next three or four years the exhibition space of the venue will increase from 150,000 sqm to 160,000 sqm.
The construction of a new 15-storey multifunctional building will be finished in 2010. The four lower storeys of the new facility will include a public area, services, and the East Entrance to Expocentre Fairgrounds. The rest of the building will accommodate offices, and the top level will house a restaurant and an outdoor observation deck.
It is also planned to erect a unique exhibition and convention centre designed by Pritzker Prize Laureate Zaha Hadid. The new centre will comprise 20,000 sqm exhibition space, a congress hall seating 1,500 people and a high-rise deluxe hotel.
Construction of one more multifunctional office building is also in plans.

Thus, in the near future Expocentre will expand its facilities and offer new exposition space, a world-class congress center and a delux hotel.


CHARITY ACTIVITIES
Carrying out large exhibition projects in the economic and social sectors, Expocentre also does a lot to revive and preserve Russia’s spiritual and cultural values.
For many years Expocentre has supported orphanage No. 39, located in the Zelenogradsky town of the Pushkino District in the Moscow Region. In association with the “Homeless Children’s Assistance Centre” Charity Fund of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Expocentre annually holds Our Orphanage Charity Event as part of the Mir Detstva International Exhibition. The Charity Fund provides varied assistance to 1,073 childcare institutions in 84 entities of the Russian Federation.
Expocentre is a sponsoring partner of the Kostroma National Ballet – a dance company which has been a prominent feature of the Russian folk culture scene for 15 years now serving the noble cause of upholding culture, traditions and spirit of the Russian people. To promote ideas of national identity, Expocentre supports the development of the Ladya Exhibition and Fair for Russian Arts and Folk Crafts.

Expocentre is a general sponsor of the Golden Knight International Film Forum intended to promote spiritual and patriotic values in Russian cinema art.
A Church dedicated to St. Seraphim of Sarov who is regarded as a patron of Russian merchants has been built on Expocentre’s premises and at its own expense.


Expocentre has reconstructed the precious riza of the Miracle-Making Icon of Theotocos Feodorovskaya, one of Russia’s major Orthodox holy things that played a particular role in the formation of the Russian national identity. On 28 January 2009 His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia blessed the new riza in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior during the Local Council of the Russian Orthodox Church.
